From Coach Waters...

PVI lacrosse competes in two very competitive conferences:   Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) and the Virginia Independent School Conference (VIS).  The team plays an 18 game regular season schedule and also participates in 2 playoffs (WCAC, VIS).  Members of our boys lacrosse program not only work throughout the year improving their lacrosse skills, but are very active in the community supporting local and national charities (Special Olympics of Virginia, Operation Warrior Outreach, Food Drive for Haiti, Medical Missionaries).

If you are interested in playing boys' lacrosse at Paul VI we want to hear from you.  Please go to our external Boys Lacrosse web-site pvilax.net to register as an "Interested Player” in our database and for more information on our program.  Please also complete the "Interested Player Bio" link on our pvilax.net web-site.

Our Vision for the Paul VI Boys Lacrosse program is to be the Most Respected High School Lacrosse Program in Virginia and the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area. Our mission is two-part. First, to help prepare the boys that come into our program to become High Character, High Quality Young Men who learn the importance of Commitment to Others, Dedication to Be the Best You Can Be, putting TEAM ahead of individual priorities, Overcoming Adversity, and learning how to Prepare to Compete Effectively as a TEAM, against some of the best teams in the nation. The second half of our mission is to help the student-athletes in our boys lacrosse program get into the best colleges possible and help prepare them for success in college and beyond.

We have made great progress since our 2013 Spring Season, in achieving our Boys Lacrosse Program Vision and Mission.  We have compiled a record of 61-27 (2013-2016) against a schedule filled with top nationally ranked opponents. This includes a regular season record of 22-6 in WCAC regular season play and 29-5 in VISAA regular season play, while advancing to compete in 2 WCAC title games, 3 VISAA Final 4’s & one VISAA championship games (all a first for our PVI Boys Lacrosse program). We have also had 31 D-I commits and 14 D-III commits in our program over the past 4 years. We are most proud of the academic achievements of our PVI Boys Lacrosse Student Athletes.  We had over 30 Principal Honor Roll Students (3.5 GPA or higher) in our program last year, a record number for our Boys Lacrosse Program.

We are very proud of the High Character and the constantly improving Academic Performance of our PVI Boys Lacrosse student-athletes. Our Boys Lacrosse student-athletes are committing to some of the top academic schools in the country, whether to play lacrosse or attend on academic merit alone. Our Boys Lacrosse program plays one of the most challenging schedules in the Naiton. Our spring schedule includes several Top 10 and Top 25 opponents in the nation. We have a very competitive WCAC conference schedule (i.e., Gonzaga, DeMatha, St. Mary's Ryken, Good Counsel, St. John's, Bishop O’Connell, Bishop Ireton) and a very strong D-I VISAA schedule (i.e., Woodberry Forest, Collegiate, Episcopal, St. Christopher's, Norfolk Academy, St. Anne’s-Belfield, Potomac). We also compete against top nationally ranked teams in our out of conference schedule (i.e. Georgetown Prep, Landon, St Paul’s, Boys Latin,  Loyola Blakefield, Calvert Hall, Malvern Prep, The Hill Academy, Cardinal Gibbons-NC) in Pre-Season, Regular Season and off-season High School Showcase Tourney games.

Most importantly, at PVI, we focus on developing well-rounded student-athletes who are prepared to succeed in college and beyond as productive citizens. We encourage our student-athletes to play multiple sports and engage in all the activities a school like PVI has to offer. As an example, many of our PVI Boys Lacrosse players serve in PVI's Student Government (SGA). Four of the Last five PVI Student Government Presidents have been Boys Lacrosse players. Like most Catholic High Schools, we also stress a strong commitment to service to our nation and to our local community. Our Boys Lacrosse Team participates in supporting multiple causes for those in need. Some of the top causes we have supported in the past include: Operation Warrior Outreach - collecting donated necessities that we ship over to our Troops overseas, sponsoring the families of Wounded Warriors based at Walter Reed Hospital for the Christmas Holiday; the PVI Options Program - a special needs student class that does a terrific job of developing special needs students. We help raise money for this program and help out with Special Olympics programs that our Options students participate in. Our Boys Lacrosse players are also called upon by our Campus Ministry to support various local and global causes (i.e., School Mission Trips, Lamb Center for the Homeless, and various student sponsored service projects).

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions about our Boys Lacrosse Program.  We look forward to hearing from you!

 Sincerely,

Bob Waters
